Motorbike to Valdez – Magnificent Alaska Scenery

Today we had another leisurely start and then only a 400 km spectacular ride with many stops – usually for another photo of the magnificent mountain scenery. Starting in Tok, the country is lagely black spruce muskeg and somewhat uninspiring

but as we rounded the North end of the Wrangel/St. Elias mountains,  we began to see huge glacier covered mountains, lush green valleys and awe inspiring rivers. What a ride through the pass and down the valley, following an above ground pipeline into Valdez. click any picture to enlarge...

We wandered around this amazing town surrounded by stunning peaks, noticing the huge oil storage tanks on the shore and the tanker loading docks, prompting us to wonder – could it happen again?

After telling me all day on the headsets about his daring wilderness trips and adventures in the wilderness, Mitchell casually suggested we get another motel – bloody soft old guy!. Reluctantly, I agreed after he negotiated a better price. Excellent Chinese food for dinner.
