Kluane National Park

Writing in my tent camped on the shore of Kluane Lake at 10 Pm in full daylight. Temperature about 4 degrees but no bugs!
We left Whitehorse on the motorbikes today in a miserable drizzle. Pat and Maxine, in their typical consummate host style, cooked up eggs Florentine to die for and fed us up royally before we left. Even though we took about 4 hours to pack the bikes with every conceivable convenience, they patiently waited on us until we finally saddled up and drove off. I’m sure no one but us has ever experienced such unreserved and generous hospitality as we have over the last 9 days. Such kind and generous people to put up with such dishevelled male boarders s as Roger and me. Thank you sincerely Pat and Max. I feel privileged to know you as friends.
We doddled along the road to Haines Junction and then on to Kluane Lake, riding only about 200 km before camping in a private spot that Rog knew about from his days guiding on the icefields in the dramatic  St Elias mountains of Kluane National Park. (He and friends have also climbed Mt Logan, Mt Steele, and Mt Queen Mary  which is an impressive accomplishment.) At the research station here Roger once again connected with old friends and then led us to a beautiful beach camp with an offer of fresh coffee in the bunkhouse in the morn.
Another deluxe day in the Yukon! Hope you enjoy the story and pics – it’s fun to share this incredible experience.
